Guacamole recipe
It does not need to be Cinco de Mayo or the Super Bowl to enjoy guacamole. The presence of ripe avocados is reason enough to celebrate. Guacamole has a bad reputation for fattiness because of the avocado and the sour cream. You can't do much to wish away the sour cream calories, but they do make good eating. The fat from the avocado however is unsaturated, so it is a type of fat that is actually good for you.
If guacamole is left exposed to the air for any length of time it will turn brown, which is unappealing. It usually gets eaten so fast that this is not a problem. But if you want to make it ahead of time before serving, wrap it up tightly as soon as possible. Drape some plastic wrap directly on to the guacamole and seal up the edges to keep the air from browning the dip.
Recipe ingredients:
2 avocados
3/4 cup sour cream
2 Tablespoons chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
Dash of Cayenne pepper
1 jalapeno, finely chopped
1 tomato, diced
Peel and pit the avocados. Mash them with a fork into a bowl. Now blend in the sour cream until the dip is smooth and pale green. Next add the chopped green onions, salt, chili powder, cayenne pepper, jalapeno, and diced tomato. Stir everything together and serve with corn chips.
