Baked pork chops with oranges
When you see a good price on center-cut loin pork chops, be sure to pick them up. Pork chops are easy to prepare and make a dinner that most people like.
This pork chop recipe is very simple and only requires about 15 minutes of work before you pop the chops in the oven. Please note that the thickness of the pork chops will influence the baking time. Very thin chops will likely be done in 40 minutes and very thick chops will need more time in the oven than 1 hour.
Recipe ingredients:
4 to 6 pork chops
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 cup flour
3 Tablespoons butter
1 large orange (2 small oranges)
1/2 cup orange juice
Rub the salt and pepper on both sides of the pork chops. Dump the cup of flour on a plate and pat the pork chops into the flour on both sides. Shake off the extra flour.
In a large skillet, heat up the butter on high heat and get it sizzling. Quickly brown the floured pork chops in the butter on both sides. Now get a baking pan that is big enough to accommodate the pork chops in one layer. Arrange the pork in the pan without stacking them. You need to peel the orange and cut it into thin slices. Put the orange slices on top of the pork chops and then pour the orange juice over the meat. You will need to cover your baking pan tightly with foil and place in a 350 degree F oven. Bake the pork chops for about 1 hour. Adjust the time up or down depending on how thick the chops are. It is important to make sure that pork is thoroughly cooked.
